im shopping for a crate right now...a metal one i can put my dog when i am at work...do you guys think 6 hours is too long for a dog to be in a crate?? and also are there crates i should stay away from...im looking to buy one at petsmart...i plan on getting the largest one so i can place in my room

do you guys think 6 hours is too long for a dog to be in a crate??

A lot of people here have differing views on crates. If I had an only dog I wouldn't crate him/her, they would have full run of a room (depending on their age and housetraining skills). Seeing as I have multiple dogs, I have to crate them all. Once I enter the working field and will be gone 6+ hours daily, I have a dog sitter to take my girls out every three hours (IE: my mom). Six hours would be too long for a young dog or a pup but most adults will tolerate it.
