Say hello to Tulip

Isn't she a cutie? Tulip was found roaming the campus by some college students. Tulip is a little girl who weighs 23lbs. She is a thick puppy and has an adorable over bite. She is a very sweet pup who loves to cuddle and play. She is very moderate, typical Pit Bull pup, and is currently good with other dogs, but does not put up with being bullied. Tulip is about 5-6 mo (puppy teeth are falling out).

Tulip is very sweet and cuddly. She loves to be held and handled. I'm seeing a little food guarding with the other dogs (not with people), but otherwise is a joy. She will go right into her crate (but she will cry a little), and she sit/stays in her spot at dinner time. So far she knows: sit, wait, stay, come, and watch me. She is on her way to being housebroken, and doing very well (just gotta get that little puppy bladder out regularly ). Tulip loves kids and is cat appropriate.

Little bump for Tulip. She is a superstar. She has been going to the shelter with me, and everyone loves her! She is very gentle and sweet with everyone. Tulip is Wonderful with kids, very tolerant and gentle, plus she seems to gravitate to them! She thinks she is a lap dog and will crawl into the lap of any stranger. Tulip is a super love bug.
Tulip is a great hiker and hangs right with us even off leash. She listens well, and is most cooperative. Tulip is a fast learner and enjoys training and tricks. She has good focus and ball drive. Tulip has enough energy to be a fun dog (going for hikes, playing fetch, working the spring pole), but not so much as to require constant exercise and stimulation. I think she will make an excellent starter Pit Bull, or the perfect pet for an owner who wants to pursue fun stuff with her, but doesn't want to deal with the extra work that goes along with having a performance dog. She has the patience and gentleness to be a therapy or reading dog.





Does anyone else see any BT in there somewhere? I swear I see some and a couple other Pit Bull folks have told me the same thing. I just can't quite put my finger on it. I'll see if I can have Morgan help me get some good full body stack type shots When he gets back.

Tulip is currently in a high risk situation. The manager at the shelter is going to adopt her to a home where she will live outside tied to a doghouse as a guard dog. Unless I can come up with something by weds. IMO he is being alarmist and blowing things out of proportion, but he thinks Tulip will be euthed if she doesn't go ASAP. I'm not sure what to do. I am full to the gills here and super busy with a new job. What a waste of a fabulous dog.

Tulip was the star of the shelters K9 Kids program viewtopic.php?f=2&t=122545 , and I have used her as a demo dog for dog bite prevention classes with both kids and parents. Tulip is super friendly and outgoing, she has never met a stranger. She is excellent with kids, dogs, and cats. Fine with horses and cattle but will chase sheep or goats. She loves car rides. Mostly housebroken (living at the shelter is not conducive of housebreaking since she has to hold it from 5pm to 8am- 15hrs). Tulip has a very solid temperament, not phased by anything, good with loud sounds (gunshots etc) handles crowds nicely, a little stubborn, but very trainable. With a little proofing she should have no problem getting her CGC and/or TT. Tulip weighs 42lbs and is about 9mo.

I have already saved her 2x, I don't want to loose her. If anybody has any ides I would be most appreciative.

Good luck Tulip! Life on a chain is not what I was expecting when I saw there was an update. I hope you can find someone to take care of her. She deserves so much better!

Robin, I sent a reply back. I may actually have a home for her in Wa. State with a friend of mine who lives on a wheat farm (about 4 hours from me), has a male BC, previously had a Rottie female and a male ACD (both passed from old age) horses, goats, cats and 2 darling little girls. It's hundreds of acres, no fence, dogs allowed in and out of the house, strangers coming and going (ranch help so not really 'strangers') so they need a pup who's, well, a shadow, if you will. I was going to put a 7 month old pup with her to foster but we're not sure about cats (which is sticky since they have a feral colony relocated from some freeway underpass to their barns AND indoor cats) so maybe we could swap? My brindle puppy to (maybe) your foster for Tulip and Tulip to my friends place?
