S.E. Michigan

Pet Needs Etc
Telegraph at Ford Road.

Feed Rite Pet Supply
Fort Street in Lincoln Park

They're both mom and pop places but Pet Needs is slightly more expensive on EVO at least but way cheaper than Pet Supplies Plus. The people at Feed Rite are very helpful and knowledgeable but the toy selection blows...plus they carry EVO cat food.

All about pets

It's located in Fayeteville NC. Owner/Operator is always on hand. They carry a ton of organics and can order just about anything you need within 5 days (no shipping charges).

Owner said I could call her anytime I had questions about ANYTHING.

Excellent store!

That is my favorite store EVER!!! They have awesome prices and actually carry stuff for big dogs! I got Vi's Obed dumb-bell there, and they even stock pulling harnesses! K-9 Specialties ROCKS!!! :headbang:

Also Pet Bistro inside of Animal Welfare Society on John R. in Madison Hgts. They ONLY carry holistic foods, and have a very good selection of raw. They are the only ones I have found that carry Orijin in this area. Prices are kinda high, but not for the products you get. They even carry TIki Cat for my kitty.

pjrocco wrote:Healthy Pet - Aurora, IL

I love this place. Great prices, friendly people and quality food and crap food separated.

Dog Patch - Naperville, IL
Off Ogden Ave in between Central Ave. and Naper/Plainfield Rd. Right by Famous Dave's Restaurant.
They sell only high quality foods at good prices, but they support puppy mills. :po:

Pet Fun - Plainfield/Naperville, IL
On the corner RT. 59 and 95th, right next to the Jewel and Caribou Coffee.
This place is pretty small, but they sell mostly quality foods.

I'm in Yorkville... haven't checked out Healthy Pet or Pet Fun yet, but I will soon! Some more places in the area to add to your list:

Two Bostons - Naperville, IL (2 locations)
One location is in downtown Naperville on the corner of Jefferson and Main and the other location is at 75th and 59. They sell high-end food and supplies and they have homemade treats. They also have many pet events throughout the year, such as pictures with Santa and the Easter Bunny, a Halloween party, and St. Patrick's Day parade. The events are all completely free.
http://www.twobostons.com/index.html

Diaz Pet Supply - Plainfield, IL
They are located in a warehouse on Industrial Dr, off of 59. They sell decent quality food, but I like because they have lots of toys and organic treats for SUPER cheap (they sell at wholesale prices). Also, they have a groomer/self-wash that is connected to the store. The groomer, Erin, fosters kittens inside her store for a local rescue group.
http://www.diazrock.com/

And for non-dog or cat related pets, this local store is great:
Fins and Feathers - Yorkville, IL
Located at 34 and Cannonball. They have a nice supply of fish, reptiles, birds, and other small pets. They sell healthy feeder fish, which is why I like them so much. The staff is very knowledgeable, which I think is very important for the types of animals that they sell. Many people do not know much about how to properly care for a turtle or frog, for example.

Also - to correct you - Dog Patch does NOT support puppy mills. They get all of their puppies from local breeders, not puppy mills. Still, I wish they would not sell puppies, but getting them from a breeder is much better than from a puppy mill.

Main Line area of Philadelphia:

Braxton's Animal Works in Wayne/Devon (it's on Rte. 30 right on the border)

They carry a full line up of premium foods (Evo, Merrick, Welleness & Wellness Core, Orijen). I can't remember all of them, but they certainly have a lot.

They're also really knowledgable!! I can't recommend them enough. Their selection of bully sticks and bones is great too.

As a bonus they have a kibble frequent buyer program :peace:

Nationwide:

PetEdge! I like to stock up on Nylas and rawhides by mail order because it's so cheap.

My all time favorite store is DogGone Natural. They have all the foods you would want. Plus they are a bit damn the man when it comes to the nutritional requirements needed. Which I love that they will give me an honest opinion on ingredients - what is needed, what isn't, etc. The owner is a pet nutritionist. The also sell a lot of natural products and supplements. I can get Oma's Pride for the pit bulls from them in bulk and they give me a discount (so I can go once a month and get a full freezer).

DogGone Natural

Ashburn, VA 20147

I'll go to Felix and Oscar on the fly if I need a supplement or kibble for our older dog. The staff isn't nearly as knowledgable though.

dog daze, north syracuse NY

great store with a terrific staff. their prices are much lower than the chain stores like petco. they offer a wide variety of high quality kibbles as well as gourmet treats. these folks are truly in it for the animals. whenever we go with wesley, the owner is literally on the floor playing with him. but then again, they are partial to pits!
