Lucy - Rescue Gremlin on Euth List

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Lucy - Rescue Gremlin on Euth List

Postby chako » Tue Sep 21, 2010 8:45 am

Lucy is one of the dogs in our CGC program at the Sacramento City Shelter. She came into the shelter sick and was labelled a wallflower after she passed her behavior eval. She then got to feeling better, put on lots of weight, and started to look wonderful. She got her oomph back and started to show her animal reactivity, which meant the shelter pulled her from the adoptable area. She is going to be put on the euthanasia list. She likely only has until the end of WED.

Unfortunately, Chako is totally full right now (and our poor rescue dogs aren't getting very many nibbles from prospective adopters). So, we cannot take in Lucy. But we what we can do is spread the word. Maybe a responsible, educated home that doesn't have any other animals and can properly manage her and train her will pop up. Yeah, we know -- long shot! But hey, it never hurts to try.

As an added bonus, Chako will put this gal on a plane and pay HALF the shipping if an out-of-area home crops up. (And there should be no adoption fee from the shelter if we pull her). For difficult dogs like her, we know that might increase her chances...but you'd have to show us you're a responsible home able to manage her animal aggression.

From what we've seen, she is a total love bug with people. Sweet, happy, submissive, and highly trainable.

She's also about 35 pounds. A Tiny Terrier-Gremlin mix we think <G>

Video is by one of our CGC volunteers who spent a little extra time with Lucy yesterday.

Unfortunately, no appropriate spot for Lucy yet. I met with a potential long-term foster after work at the shelter yesterday and took Lucy out from ISO to meet with the woman and talk more with her, but no go. It's hard to find responsible, experienced people who can deal with a little 35 pounder like Lucy who will throw it down with other dogs.

So it's not looking good for Lucy! :(

Same old story.
I wish I had room for little Lucy.

Not usually..unless it is someone we know really well :) We will adopt occasionally to persons outside the state, but we like to do more frequent in person checks on fosters and have them closer. are you in Oregon? You interested in fostering?
