Seeking professional advice for health or behavior problems

Postby BabyReba » Wed Dec 01, 2010 12:50 pm

Pit Bull Forum is a peer resource for pit bull owners. The members who post here are dedicated dog owners who are willing to generously share their experiences, advice and information with one another. That's the backbone of this community.

Although many of our members have a good deal of experience owning, handling and caring for dogs, we do not recommend that members use the advice they receive here as a substitute for seeking in-person veterinary or behavioral care for your dogs.

If you have a concern about your dog's health, particularly if you feel your dog is ill, you should make an appointment with your veterinarian for professional medical advice.

If you have concerns about your dog's behavior, particularly if you are concerned about aggression issues, you should seek the advice of a behavior consultant or trainer in your area. Trying to diagnose aggression problems over the Internet can be potentially dangerous. Need help figuring out what kind of behavior professional can help you? See this post for information on the different kinds of veterinary behaviorists and consultants.

If you need advice on how to find a behavior consultant in your area, post in training and ask. Our members are sure to make some suggestions.

Thanks and happy posting!
