Boy in Michigan Needs Forever Home or Foster

Why buy from a breeder when there are plenty of homeless pups in shelters???

Boy in Michigan Needs Forever Home or Foster

Postby HickGirl » Tue Jan 04, 2011 8:32 am

We found a stray red/white male wandering down the road. He was a bit emaciated when we found him. He is putting on weight nicely. We have put up ads in the lost/found section of the newspapers, local shelters and Craigslist, but nobody is claiming him. We need to find him a new forever home or foster situation. We already have 3 dogs of our own. And my female is not being very nice to him. My 5 year old son named him Rudolf since we found him before Christmas and he has a red nose. He has a very sweet, loving temperament. We have a small hobby farm with dogs, cats, pigs and horses. He doesn't bother with any of the animals, he just follows me around wanting to be close while I do chores. He seems to love every person he meets. The vet estimates his age between 8 months and a year old. He has no formal obedience training, but is catching on quick. If you are interested in "Rudy" or know of any rescues/fosters with room for 1 more, please let me know.

Well we thought we had the perfect home for him. One of our friends took him home last night. I figured it would be the perfect situation then we could still visit with Rudy (which made my 5 year old son very happy to have visitation rights). Got the call today that "it isn't working out." Guess when I explained that he was still being potty trained and that he was the equivalent of getting a new 9 or 10 week old puppy in that aspect, they didn't quite understand. He doesn't mark, but he needs to be let out often and watched carefully until he "gets" it. He is good and never has accidents in his crate. You just have to be on top of it when he is out running around the house. Bummer :teary:

Ugh! Poor Rudy. When I'm placing puppy or dogs, people always, always ask "Is he house trained" and no one seems to understand that it doesn't just happen over night.

That's too bad. Hopefully he will find someone.

Good news, we found a home for Rudy. It is a family with 4 children. Everything is going well with them. I stopped in yesterday at their home to see how Rudy was doing. He was being spoiled very nicely. So it looks like he is one lucky dog. :yipee:
