bloodhound rescue?

Anyone know a good bloodhound rescue? We have an 8 week old puppy here at the clinic who's owners dumped it because the breeder would take the dog back but wouldn't help with the expenses (over $1000, it needed O2 and we weren't going to let it die waiting for owner to call us back).

Puppy is doing great, needs somewhere to go.

I can ask the bloodhound people when I go to my Rally class on Monday if the pup is still in need?

People are lining up for the pup... crazy how it took us 6 months to rehome a 3 legged boxer, but a puppy has people knocking down the doors, and he's not even legally ours.

Owner is being a :po:

and won't sign relinquishment papers OR pay the amount of the estimate signed to get his dog back (despite the fact we're willing to write off the additional $600 we spent to save the pups life when he walked out), so now the pup is stuck in the kennel for 2 of the most important weeks of his life... really stinkin' crappy.

We're doing our best, but we're starting in on the busy season, and we've got a distemper suspect in the building to boot, so its been really hard the past few days.

let me know if you need me to talk to the bloodhound people at my training center, I see them on Monday evenigns but can reach them in between if I need to (the bloodhound people there are like us with our pit bullls)

We have been in contact with Midwest bloodhound rescue and they have a slot for him, we just can't start making arrangments until he's legally ours. I'm not technically supposed to have him posted up (posted before we knew owner would refuse to do the right thing) but since its already here I'm venting and keeping my sanity. If you would be willing to ask and make sure its a good quality rescue organization, that would be helpful because now we have to decide weather to send him to rescue or adopt him out ourselves with a couple interested individuals out there.

14 days from the day the certified letter was sent out.

That seems an awful long time for you guys to have to house the pup. I figured it would be similar to the stray hold at Animal Control.

It's different because the dog has an owner that is known, it's not like an unknown stray. You have to go through legal channels to sever their right to their property.

Here's an update on the bloodhound pup... he's now legally ours and we can talk about him again!
