Pit Bull - Needs Home - Male - Dallas, TX

Postby tambius » Mon Jul 11, 2011 8:12 pm

Well, another friend got an unwelcomed dog on her front porch. Somebody just dumped him there. This boy is a looker! He gets along well with other dogs and is somewhat afraid of people, but has shown NO HUMAN AGGRESSION. We think he might have been abused in the past. He is looking for a home. Please PM me if you can help, She already has several dogs and cannot take anymore. If she takes him to a shelter, he will likely be put down.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I found a rottie mix a few weeks back and emailed literally every rescue in the area. If you still need help, I can go back through my emails to see which rescues responded and were willing to at least consider helping.

UPDATE: This poor boy has a broken tail. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. And after examining his teeth, we think he is 1 - 2 years old. The shelter in the area where he would be taken IS a KILL SHELTER. Can anyone help!??

UPDATE: We had a home for him for about 3 days. Turns out he is only 6 months old, and like typical pitties he needs training and exercise and discipline. The potential rescuer was not able to take care of him properly.

Please some help? I have conntacted countless rescues with no response. :pray

You probably have the most resources in your area (living in a metro area). I think he is a gorgeous boy, and wish I could offer to take him and place him here, but rescues just aren't moving lately. If you have no other options (but the kill shelter) and someone will transport he could come here to Colorado.

I'm really disappointed to hear this! I'll send the picture to my dog trainer and see if he's got any rescue connections. Let us know if anything happens with him!

UPDATE: He was placed on Craigslist (not by me) and people keep flaking. People are responding who live in apartments that don't allow pitties, etc.... He still needs a home. This guy is REALLY REALLY sweet. I am sure there is SOMEONE out there who can open up their home to him? Any help would be appreciated. If someoen could talk my husband into letting me take him, I'll take that help as well. He is threatening divorce if I bring home a 3rd dog. :crybaby:

Sorry Mandy, I'm hijacking your thread ;)

New update on this cute little guy: aparently he was adopted, left unsecured on a patio, jumped out, and was picked up by animal control and is in the shelter. The new owners, it would appear, don't feel like going to reclaim him, so he's set to be PTS on the 9th.

:(

I'm not familiar with any Texas rescues. Did you guys try http://www.operationkindness.org/index.php yet?
Or Spindletop? I suppose too far away.

I'd be willing to help with calls if I can (I live up in MN).

Oh come on. Who placed the dog like that? Was proper screening even attempted?

Honestly, I don't know. I'm kind of catching the tail end of this guy's story, so I don't know all the details. I do know that many many many rescues have been contacted to try to help find a foster or anything and all to no avail. I think he was placed by concerned citizens trying to help him out rather than a rescue.
