After looking at the thread for the mixed dog in Misc. now I'm really curious about what would be an appropriate gene sequence for our dogs. ...well especially my dog
I've been looking all night at the site Sarah posted. how cool!http://abnormality.purpleflowers.net/genetics/index.htm
What is confusing to me is how do you start the sequence?
Is it easiest to start with 1 set of letters which then makes you conform to another series of letters and then because one series is correct it would lead you to another series?
Capone is white with brown
except on his face is looks dilute compared to the rest of his body
his nose is dilute, not black and has some pink on the nostrils
half faced color
amber eyes (normally look dark due to big pupils)
pink eye and lip skin
freckles /no real ticking, just spots
so I'm looking for some letters in
BB, DD, AA, SS
Would be called piebald since he has no color on his legs ? sp
"It is therefore very difficult to tell a liver from an isabella unless there is some liver/isabella in the coat
dilution gene occurs on the D locus. It is recessive, so d is dilute and D is non-dilute, and in order for a dog to be dilute it must have the genotype dd. A dog which is Dd or DD will have normal pigment."
So if Capone has a red/brown color with a dilute on his face is he dilute? dd
I'm just not sure where to start but I'm really intrigued now! thoughts?
His Mom (brown on her back)
