OMG!! I can't believe I didn't think of that!! My neighbor (human) had that and her face was so swollen and misshapen for over a week! I believe strong antibiotics did the trick for her.

He's very handsome. One time our cat ate a rodent and a bone pierced the roof of his mouth, causing his eye to swell up. I suppose the vet probably checked the roof of his mouth though? Any difference yet with the antibiotics?

It's so hard to tell. From what I can see, the fluid on his neck isn't as prominent, but his lips are swollen now. Even the left side. I can't tell if the swelling on his cheek is going down or not. I think it might.

What about salivary gland infection?

My neighbor with the salivary gland infection said today that it took THREE months to clear up... (FYI)

From what I can see, the fluid on his neck isn't as prominent, but his lips are swollen now.

My Tux had a salivary glad infection at one point, and it was localized mainly on his left lip. It was treated successfully with a round of antibiotics.

I just wanted to update and say that Riley's face is looking pretty normal now! He went back to the vet, and he gave him a thorough check and felt that the swelling was almost gone. He said to continue antibiotics and keep an eye on it, but all seems well.

I asked him about possible causes, including the salivary gland infection. He told me that its possible, but typically you would see fluid further down on the mouth, not up in the cheek like Riley's. He felt that more than likely, it was a muscle infection and that it was probably caused by chewing on something that poked into his cheek. He actually told me he hasn't really seen anything quite like it. I'm just glad he's ok! Thank you so much for the support, I really appreciate it.
