Pug/Bulldog/Boston noses

So, we just acquired a Pug. Yay me

I'm pretty versed in all their special needs, but I was looking for suggestions on a certain subject: his nose.

As a groomer for 7+ years, I've seen more than my fair share of graying, flaking, crusty, gross noses... Mostly on English Bulldogs, but some Pugs and Bostons as well. Charlie's isn't too bad right now, but is there something I can put on his nose to keep it healthy?

Let me re-phrase... I've looked online. I've heard Vaseline, sunscreen, vitamin E oil, and Kera...something or another. I've seen some specialty lotions. But I'm asking PBF because you guys know everything, or know someone who knows

We always used vitamin e when I worked for the pug/bulldog breeder.

our vet told us vaseline. been using it a few times a day for 2 days on our new boy and his nose is much improved.

It depends on the nose.

Some dogs just need a moisturizer, and you want something safe to be ingested, so vaseline seems to work well.

Some dogs need something to help remove excessive buildup of dead skin cells, this is when kerasolve seems to work best.

I'm mostly looking for a moisturizer as preventative measures so I never have a dog with a gray, flaky nose. Blech.

I'm trying a free sample of a product called "Snout Soother," although it's probably a little too pricey to buy regularly.
