Tucker doesn't like kibble ...

Yeah, it's really suspicious. I haven't spoken to the other dog's owners again to find out if they have any more details on what could have caused their dog to become so ill. We stopped in to see them over the weekend, but they weren't in the store. I'll be very curious to hear what they found out.

Tomorrow I take Tucker in for another round of bloodwork to see where his CBC is at. I can tell just by looking at him, by his weight gain and appetite increase and energy level that he's feeling better, but this will give us a measure of where his blood count is at right now ... we'll be continuing to monitor it for at least a few months I would imagine, to make sure he stays stable.

Tucker's vet has a new puppy!



She tried to take Tucker for a walk



9 week old Amstaff. Very cute! He loves bully breeds, which is nice. And Tucker was feeling very good today, so he enjoyed his visit with this little one.

Sharon, my Dad is doing very, very well. The last scan he had showed that his tumor is shrinking, so the chemo is doing its work! Thanks for asking!

bloodwork results are back ... his anemia has definitely improved since last 2 blood workups, but he's still pretty anemic. RBC numbers are back up in the 3s (he had dropped down to 1.88) so we do need to decide whether to continue with the doxycycline and blood monitoring and see if he improves further or if we want to start talking about immune suppressants.

i'm inclined to think we should go with the first option for now, since he is feeling a bit better. the vet says he is feeling optimistic because there has been some improvement. somehow, i had hoped it would be more significant, but he's happy about it.

yes, definitely! he's improving, his RBC is going up, he's eating again. so i do need to focus on that! he's leaps and bounds better than he was a month ago!

great news today! had a recheck at the vet and did another round of blood, and his numbers are finally almost normal!

RBC is 5.20
Hemoglobin is 11.9 (low, but close to norma, which is 12.1-20.3)
Hematocrit is 39.9

All of those ranges are on the low end of normal, but way better than they were and he's also gained another half pound. so he's definitely just about where we want him to be.

i'm so relieved! still not sure exactly what caused this, but we'll be doing another round of tickborne disease testing in a month or two, just to see what they say.
