Re: Sadie isn't well
This was Sadie at 4am as we waited for the results of her repeat xray. She was attentive and thwacked her tail on the bench whenever someone would walk by. Who would have thought she was so sick inside.

Re: Sadie isn't well
Thank god you caught it in time, I wish sweet Sadie a speedy recovery
Incidents like this are the main reason I don't give my dogs any kind of bones, they are known for swallowing huge pieces of anything edible and that can be scary.

I picked a bad time to get my computer worked on. It was quite scary reading this, I'm glad you caught it when you did! Poor Sadie
Sending healing thoughts

Re: Sadie isn't well
I am so glad she is doing ok.

Re: Sadie isn't well
It can be so hard to be a good owner with dogs like these we have. Because they don't show their pain like a "normal" dog, we have to be so attuned to know when something is wrong. And then we have to advocate for them at the vet, because the vet will always assume that your "normal" acting dog is probably okay.
Sorry this has happened to you. I hope Sadie is back to normal, soon!

Re: Sadie isn't well
the thing that really scares the crap out of me is how sick she was while not showing it. If I had waited until she was REALLY sick like your normal dog, it may have been too late. Ugh I can't even go there mentally.

Sending get well soon wishes to Sadie!!!!!
These dogs are just too stoic for their own good!

Re: Sadie isn't well
Visited Sadie before calling it a night. She looks miserable. She stood the whole time. Tried laying, tried sitting, but she's cut down her whole abdomen so I imagine standing gives the least amount of pressure on the stitches. Poor baby. Broke my heart.
Standing, stiff, head down, tail tucked

I tried to get a picture of her abdomen, but I didn't want to lift her up for it since that hurt her. I can tell she's in a lot of pain. She isn't crying though. Amazing. *shakes head*
The cut is huge.

The downside of keeping my dogs lean is when something hard hits their body - like this - there are few reserves to fall back on. She's already lost some weight and her fur has lost its sheen. I see some spoiling in her future.

stoned sad Sadie

sigh

Re: Sadie isn't well
Sadie is doing fine. They gave her some breakfast and now they're watching to make sure she keeps it down. He told me to call back at 2-3pm for another update. I asked if there was a chance she'd be able to come home today and he said there was a chance, but wouldn't give me odds. He said her surgery was pretty complicated and harsh, so she may have to stay longer
I just want my girl home. Healthy of course, but home.
