Aww poor Sadie... You'll see, she will be back to normal in a week or two, the first few days after surgery are always the hardest... Brina had her whole belly stitched up twice after her complete mastectomy surgeries and I was always amazed at how quickly she bounced back after such major surgeries. Hang in there, both of you

Sadie is home!

She's under the usual no jumping orders, so needs to be lifted on/off furniture and carried up/down stairs. The furnture is tough. She'll jump on/off before you can blink. She surprised me by jumping in the car and disobeyed my order to stay while i opened the hatch of the prius and jumped down on her own. So now she has a leash on her that she drags around so we can hold on to it while we sit on the couch to snuggle so she doesnt sneak off on her own. We're also going to put an expen in front of the couches to keep her from going on/off without our assistance.

Like it or not she has to take it easy!

We're doing good. She is sleeping a ton, and we're figuring out ways around the jumping and stairs issue. Sleeping on the couch was hell for me, but it was very comforting to wake up and feel her next to me.

Looks great!! So nice to see someone do staples properly, and not put them every 5mm.

Lots of healing thoughts, I'm also shocked the bone had perforated, its not a typical problem, and the other vets are right, dogs are usually acting MUCH sicker when there is a hole in the bowel.

Everything about Sadie's presentation was odd. She was so sick, but hid it well. The techs called her the happiest sick dog they ever met. It really scares me to think if I had waited till the more typical symptoms presented, it may have been too late. One of the vets said many stoic dogs (ie bull and terrier type breeds) often don't show the usual symptoms until they are circling the drain. Honestly that was kind of hard to hear as I laid on the floor cradling my recovering girl.

YIKES! I am so glad you KNEW something was wrong and insisted on an x-ray, that Sadie got surgery in time and is now on the mend. I send healing thoughts and prayers her way and look forward to seeing her up and about and all healed up. That is one big incision.
