Re: Hi, just ended up with a surprise puppy!
Here is a pit bull rescue listed for the Tampa Bay area:
http://www.pitbullhappenings.com/rescue.php
I have NO personal knowledge of this rescue, but maybe some people on this forum might.
Usually a rescue would require you to keep the dog until it is adopted but would help you with adoption day opps, adoption app process and home visit.
I'd think going that route would end up with a better placement than trying to do it yourself.

Re: Hi, just ended up with a surprise puppy!
If you would like decent recsues in the area, I can suggest a few to you. Keep in mind, all in that area require you to foster the dog while they curtesty list it for you. Foster homes are so crammed down there, it's about impossible to find another foster parent.
As for rescues:
Rugaz is good, I used to be a Director for them before I moved up here a yr ago. If you ask them for a courtesy posting, they should be able to help you.
FL Big Dog rescue is another good one.
SAFE I think is all breed friendly, and does alot for the TB area.
Lost Angels is another all breed one.
My reasoning for NOT reccomending Pit Bull Happenings rescue is because they do NOT spay/nueter or vaccinate dogs in their care until someone pays/fills out an app to adopt it. They also only take owner surrenders, and most of them have to already be fixed and vacc'd. Then they charge a high adoption fee when they've done nothing. They guy that "owns" PBH rescue and forum is far from being a good rep for this breed or the human race. He also uses donations for the rescue on his personal dogs. He's also a member here...

My bad. Thanks Curly!

Take a look at the "Got a Mouthy Pup" thread in Training. There are good tips in there to help you. Please don't use the crate as a punishment, this will eventually cause problems with her association with the crate.
