HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE
Re: HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE
today socks is acting a little down. im not sure why.... although i just heard him barking like a maniac at someone walking a dog past the house.

Re: HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE
so a little update...1st sorry for the late post..my computer crashed.
socks is doing pretty good. i sat around thinking about his mct's . i called the vet and talked to him about what ive learned. i decided to have them removed. im not comfortable sitting and wondering if they have spread into his organs.the other vet assumed they have..you know what they say about assuming.. the vet explained to me that they could do ultrasounds and xrays to find out but it all adds up to being expensive. he told me that the proper way to deal with mct's is to have them removed. he doesnt think 6 of them at a time is alot if they are small (which they are). 2 years ago socks had the same surgery for a bunch of them. so im hoping that removing these ones will buy us another 2 years.
i know i seem indecisive. ive brought him to 2 vets and now going back to the original. i just want to do whats best for my dog.the original vet is highly recommended but i just get a money vibe there that i dont like..but money isnt everything even when your on a tight budget.
sorry for the long post.

Socks is very lucky to have such a caring owner looking out for him. Lots of us have gone differant routes when it comes to mast cell. Ultimatly it's your decison on what you feel is best for Socks.
Sending lots of healthy vibes to Socks and thanks for keeping us posted.

Re: HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE
thanks, thats the thing...so confusing to know what you are doing is helpful or not...
Re: HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE
I don't think you sound indecisive. You're trying to do right by your dog in a situation in which there are no clear answers.
Re: HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE
thank you. socks has been pretty peppy the last few days. every time they aspirate the lumps he gets all weird for a few days/week. i remember it the last time they did it 2 years ago. he was like that.

Socks and you are in my thoughts.
My older dog stresses out at the vet really bad. It usually takes him about 2-3 weeks to get over the experience. I think it is stress hormones that take some time to get out of the blood stream after a dog's stressful experience.

I think the reason he may act strangely after the lumps have been aspirated is because they release histamines when manipulated which can make dogs feel not so great. They can be painful as well. It i best to avoid touching the lumps or messing with them unless it is necessary.
He's very cute, I hope everything goes well.
