HELP- TUMORS... NEED ADVICE

socks is home and resting. everything went well. 7 lumps removed. 5 mast cells and 2 fatty tumors. the vet said that the mast cells were just in his skin and not branching out into his muscles.he said that is a good sign.he told me his prognosis is good.

thank you for all the happy thoughts !

an update on socks. he is doing great, alot better then i thought he would be doing. with that said, i had to take him back to the vets today. the 1st five minutes i take my eyes off of him he decides to tare out some stitches.

the vet restitched them and then used surgical super glue on the wound and re-bandaged them.

he is feeling better. i was walking out of my room and he stopped and seen me and dropped his chest to the floor like he always does when he wants to play. thats as far as it got though, he was like "ooo, i still hurt"

I hope his recovery continues as well. A cone is a great invention--amazing how quickly they can rip out their stitches.

Our Tiva has had 2 bouts with MCTs, and she's nearing 17 and still going strong. Both times we had the MCTs removed, but no chemo or radiation (once they were in her tail, so we had the tail amputated rather than do radiation). We had the surgery and consult at the vet school with the oncologist, but worked with our regular (wonderful) vet on post-surgical treatments. We now have Tiva on the following to reduce recurrence (all recommended by the vet):
-turmeric
-omega 3 fatty acids
-parsley (for the apigenins)
-Coenzyme Q10

im glad tiva is doing well. ill have to ask the vet about those supplements.

socks is recovering nicely except the fact he ripped out his stitches 3 times... the collar doesnt work with him as he freaks out with it on and his stitches in his neck get irritated and loosen up. so the vet opted for no stitches for the wound on his foot and to use a bandage with a booty.

so the other day while inspecting his stitches i noticed a lump under his arm pit where he has stitches and had a lump removed. the vet in his words told me that he expects it to be no more then fat deposits that got juggled loose. he will check again in a week. kind of freaked me out....

Hopefully your vet is right, but it must be hard not to stress about it. Keep on recovering socks, you stitch ripper you.
