Pit bulls are prone to dog aggression and it often doesn't show up until they mature so it's not a good idea to get "playmates" if that's what you are after. If you want a 2nd dog that's fine, but occasionally it happens that dogs stop getting along and need to be kept 100% apart, it's called crate and rotate. If you are ok with that possibility go for it, take some precautions, I would get an older adult female who's personality is more set than a puppy, don't leave any toys, treats, food around for them to fight over and don't leave them together unsupervised. If you are gone crate one or both dogs or put them up in separate bedrooms.
A couple good links on multiple dog stuff
