Daisy is no longer sick we have transferred her from the bland food back onto regular dog food and she seems to be fine.. No more vomiting. lets just hope it stays that way Thanks for what advise was given. Im glad a vet trip wasnt needed this time. next time she gets like that if its any time soon shes going to the vet. but im just happy shes better

purina dog chow. its not the food cz shes been on it since i got her at 3 months old I know its a bad quality food but its cheaper and all 3 of my dogs eat it..

the reason we buy that is because we can get a 50 pound back for $20 and 2 of our dogs have a hard time eating some foods 1 is little and missing teeth the other is 14 and They dont eat everything they are very picky eaters we bought some food one time NO dog would eat it not even the stray cats would eat it

Never mind my mom said she isnt going to buy her any more food that were staying on what we have,, Would it be ok to feed her chicken and rice every once and a while along with the purina dog chow so she dont always eat it..

Petsmart doesn't carry Kirkland brand, Costco does. Last I checked, Petsmart doesn't carry Purina either. Just because you tried "one other food" that didn't work out does not conclude that every other food will do the same. What was that other food? There are dozens of other food options that are much higher quality for reasonable prices, even at Petsmart. Heck, I'm doing what many are with all this recall business lately and ordering my dog's food from out of the country. I'm no where close to what you'd call loaded, but I budget it out and research what I'm feeding because my dog's health is a priority.

My mom wont change the food.. we get social security checks and once we pay the bills we have just enough to get grocerys and a cheap bag of dog food ill just feed her actual chicken and rice often 1 pot gets my dog thru 3 days

Chicken and rice isn't nutritionally balanced so I would not recommend feeding it often, you could give a meal or two a week of raw chicken breast though.

Well they CAN, but if you do your research and buy from a good source then they should be fine.

Something worth remembering in the future, too, is that often the foods that are a few steps up from Purina (like Kirkland's, Diamond Naturals, even Taste of the Wild, etc.) are higher calorie or at the very least more nutritionally dense-- so that even though they are more expensive, you feed less of it. Sometimes it costs less than feeding Purina, especially if you don't free feed and instead measure out how much each dog needs, and sometimes it's the same price or only slightly more when you calculate how much it costs per day to feed. It costs more per pound, but you need fewer pounds in the end.

It means watching how much you feed them more closely sometimes, but it can end up being better for them at a similar cost.

Feeding some meals of raw chicken and even a few veggies-- carrots, broccoli, sweet potato, peas, green beans-- would be great, too.
