Well here we go again
Yesterday Sadie was her normal crazy, ball obsessive self, running around like a loon on crack. That is normal. By the evening time she was a lethargic lump. She felt warm to me but I didn't have a thermometer to verify.
Next morning she was the same. I did a couple of tests. Held the ball up for her, waved it in front of her nose, and tossed it. Nothing. Then at breakfast time we put her in her kennel and she wakes up the neighbors with her high pitched chortles - this time, nothing. Subdued. She ate, but she always eats... so that tells me nothing.
I took her to the vet. She had a temp of 103.1 and very lethargic. As we were waiting for the vet she rolled over for tummy rubs and I noticed some red dots and mild rash looking area on her tummy, chest, and thighs. Mild. I looked in her ears and saw a red splotch inside of one ear and a lighter red splotch in the other.
My main concern was obstruction as she was showing signs of GI issues and with her history, I needed to know. Xrays showed a partial obstruction in her colon, so they kept her, gave her fluids, and a few hours later she had a BM and the follow up xray showed things moving forward. When I talked to them last, they were going to give her dinner, then a follow up meal 4 hrs later and make sure she is holding down her food. I was then going to try to sweet talking them into letting me take her home, assuming her fever was gone and everything seemed on the up and up.
Buuuut.... now she has facial swelling. Teeth/mouth look okay. It could be an allergic reaction to who knows what, but they think it may be lymph nodes. I told the tech to have the vet call me back. I don't think they've a WBC check, only electrolytes, and at this point I think I want that. I don't know what to think; all I know is she isn't coming home tonight and that makes me sad.

hope she is A-OK!!
