Hello Pit Bull Forum,
My name is Dave. I'm a 49 year-old, single, APBT enthusiast from Michigan. I have always had bird dogs, until I was offered a female American Bulldog, named Zoie. I adopted Zoie and she became my passageway into my love for Bully Breed dogs. As I researched the American Bulldog, I became fascinated with the APBT. I learned that there is no dog on this earth that can match the overall athleticism, heart, and determination displayed by a game-bred APBT. During my research into the history of the breed, I fell in love with the Colby blood-line. In fact, my love took me to Newburyport, MA where I met Louis Colby and had a fascinating two-hour conversation with him, during which time I picked up a male pup. I named him Colby, in honor of the great Colby blood-line. He's a powerful, athletic, lovable 67 lb boy who I love dearly. Unfortunately, I had to put-down his best friend, Zoie (American Bulldog) last year. However, I decided to adopt a female friend for him from The Detroit Bully Corp, last fall. Zeva is a 45 pound, beautiful, lightning fast, APBT that has been a joy for both Colby and I.
I very much enjoy researching the history of the breed, nutrition, exercise, and homeopathic remedies to keep my dogs healthy. I currently feed my dog a raw meat/organ/vegetable diet, which I supplement with pro-biotics, cod-liver oil, and various other pharmaceutical-grade nutritional supplements. I love exercising both dogs 6x/week, using my mountain bike. Colby and Zeva run on opposing sides of my bike on runs that average between 3-10 miles. Generally, I run them between 9-16 mph. However, during the hot/humid weather, I periodically walk them when I think hard running could be detrimental to their health. I use a harness for each dog so that I can keep the tension off their neck as well as allow them to safely pull me around the neighborhood. It's safe to say that we are like a freight-train blowing through the neighborhood.
Besides dogs, health, fitness, and sports (I was a 3-sport athlete) have always been a large part of my life. I am a Former AAU Mr. America and well as a Former NABBA Mr. USA. Therefore, I truly enjoy training my dogs for health and athletic purposes. Finally, I am looking forward to meeting other APBT enthusiasts and hope that I can contribute and learn from other members.
Dave
