post Spay question

Postby abbybaby2011 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 5:19 pm

hello all sorry it has been so long since my last post. . I but I have a quick question Chevelle was spayed 2 weeks ago although she was in heat. She is about 95% healed, but I was wondering when it would be ok to put her back with an intact male? I hate to have to lock her in a crate so much. Thanks in advance.

As in, is it safe for her to not be bred? They removed all her reproductive organs so that's not a concern but the intact male could still be stimulated by her hormones (even my neutered male will try and tie with a bitch in heat).

Try it slowly and see how he responds. Keep them both on leash in case you need to separate them.

I was worried that he may be riled up & tear open her incision site. Apologies for not being more clear.

Try them out slowly in a controlled environment and see. It's hard to know without knowing the dogs. :)

Thanks, I have had them together multiple times throughout the day. The first time of course he was curious about her but then after a while, he just laid down n ignored her as usual lol

I would not leave them together unsupervised, but otherwise they should be fine.
