Today is his birthday! he turned 12 years old today. seems just like yesterday he fit in my hand.

he is doing better and the vet is weening him off his prednisone to see how he does. he is still on his other pain meds.gabepentine? ill have to look at the bottle to get the exact name. next week he goes in for more xrays. fingers crossed.

Gabapentin - great stuff!!

Happy Birthday Socks!!!

seems to be working for him. i was a little shocked to find out i have to get that from the "human" pharmacy. my vet wrote me a prescription. i didn't know that happened. ;)

Yay!
Price check that stuff! I'm stuck in an HMO but for dog prescriptions i usually check Costco, Walgreens, etc. If there's a Walmart near you I think they price-match.

I'm so glad he's doing Better. Happy birthday handsome Socks. :)

little update. socks goes in tomorrow (wed) for more xrays. today hes been having a hard time with the stairs and whining a little. i dont know if its because he was taken off the prednisone or because the weather has been rainy for a few days (is that a wives tale?).

update tomorrow.

heres his puppy pic. look hard ,he blends in with the carpet.

2nd set of xrays were done today and results were not good. the "moth eaten" bone doesnt look any different but theres is a lesion/mass that doesnt look to good.

the vet said he is 99% sure its not bone cancer but he thinks its cancer of the lining of the joint. he said the only real way to know for sure is a byopsy and even though its just a byopsy the surgery to get it is very invasive and expensive. 2-5k.

he talked about chemotherapy and to tell you the truth it is all a bit over whelming.

for now we put him back on prednisone. i need to take a step back for a bit.

im still worried and overwhelmed. socks is doing ok but has trouble with the stairs now. im hoping the steroids kick in. i plan on contacting the vet asap so he can give me the name of the cancer he believes it to be. i think he said " synovial joint cancer" but i was in odd state, surreal.

even when i look up synovial joint cancer im not getting much info wise.
