I adopted my first pit bull from the local humane society about a month and a half ago!
My husband and I really wanted our Doberman to have a sister/playmate and couldn't be happier for them, they get along great. But more so I wanted a pit bull because it has always been a breed that I was always so curious and passionate about.
We found Letty on via Petfinder - just browsing not expecting to find a dog I'd absolutely fall in love with - and called about her right away. Scheduled a Meet and Greet with our Doberman (Roman) so see how they'd interact. Of course, she had about a month and a half of built up shelter energy so their first play time was a little intense. After their play time was evaluated and approved, we got a call to sign the paper work and scheduled for her to get fixed. And she came home a couple days later! Roman and Letty are about the same age, we're thinking she may be older than him by several months. She's definitely more dominant than him (he's never really had confidence, even though he does great at the dog park) which works out because he's quite submissive.
She's the most lovable thing, always following us around and wagging her tail as hard as possible with that big ol' pit bull smile. And boy does she love to cuddle. We're still working on house training her (crate training seems to work) and I'll be posting on the training section about her dominance issues at the dog park, something I'm not used to as I'm used to our Doberman.
Anyway... I'm glad to officially be apart of the pit bull community and I'm excited to learn as much as I can, as I want Letty to be shining example of a well taught pit bull/member of our family
