Re: Happy Tail
He's going to be the poster child for butt lifts. What a tight and toned fanny he will have!
My thoughts are always with you guys.

Re: Happy Tail
As the owner of a tail-less dog, there are few things cuter than watching their butt wiggle so hard and fast that you worry their hips will dislocate.
Have you ever played that game where you clap as fast as you can and then try to clap faster? That's what it's like when Obi the Incorrigible sees Darryl's truck pull into the driveway. Only with his butt. Obviously, since he doesn't have hands.

Re: Happy Tail
The heat too. Seriously, am I in a first world country? Because no one should have a newborn in a house where it's 89 freaking degrees.
Re: Happy Tail
I hope tomorrow's surgery (#7?!!!??) goes well.
Re: Happy Tail
Yep, #7. Two of those were under light enough anesthetic that they could be done on the exam table, but the other four (and this one) are generals. At least it's been two weeks since his last. I'm really nervous about all these drugs going into his system. I don't even want to worry about long-term side effects.

Re: Happy Tail
You guys rock.
What a roller coaster of a morning. Rob and I left for the vet this morning, and he was slightly in front of me. We got separated by some cars, and I couldn't see him anymore, and then when I got to the vet, he wasn't there. I suddenly had a panic attack that when he'd said "drive safe" he meant he was going straight to work and he wasn't going to be there, and I started crying because I need him with me because I always loose it when they knock Oscar out and it never gets less scary. Well, no, he stopped for gas and didn't tell me, and so I was pretty rattled when he finally got there.
Then we went in, the vet looked for a moment and said "huh. Well, I'm not sure I want to do anything. It looks too good. We flipped Oscar over (which he HATES, and he would growl if I was anywhere but making direct eye contact with him) and the vet looked closer and said "I think it's going too well on it's own. I think cutting anything at this point would only be a setback"
SO Surgery #7 is temporarily (at least, possibly permanently) postponed!!!!! I cried all the way home I was so happy.
I'd already shuffled my work schedule for the week, and with the brown outs and extreme heat, I'm going to stay home anyway, in case I have to evacuate the immune-compromised cats to an air-conditioned place. But for now I'm just going to snuggle with my boy. Well, and let him play with his new Quado (which he loves) while I read the new Karen Overall book...

Re: Happy Tail
Yay!
I really hope he won't need any more surgeries

Re: Happy Tail
For the curious, here's a graphic photo (taken last night) (I think that will work)
You can see the two flaps on the side, at about 10 and 5 on the clock, that the doc was concerned weren't attaching properly. You can also see the Y-shaped scar from surgery number... uh... three? and also the little bald patch at the top of the tail that is the most recent regrowth. The red is obviously the part without skin, and the part that gets longer or shorter depending on his excitement level.
