Hello -
I am on here specifically to see what pit owners and experts think (or may have experience with) regarding a dog at the local animal shelter I am thinking of adopting who might look even slightly like a pit.
(I am not against pits at all. I have volunteered to walk them at another animal shelter.)
My friend, who does a lot of rescue work at this shelter where this boy is (because pits can only be adopted through rescue), tells me that this particular shelter does not allow pits or obvious pit mixes out for adoption. I should ask them, but wondering if he is part Staffie.
He was listed only as a terrier but a volunteer there thought he might be part border collie.
I live somewhere currently where breed is not an issue, but should I ever need to rent somewhere where they don't want bully breeds or where part pit-bull dogs are even illegal, I wonder about future problems down the road.
So, I am wondering if you think this dog looks too much like the kind of bully breed or even part pit that would have people not wanting to rent to me potentially or get him taken away if I went to the wrong city on one of my road trips.
Also, he looks a bit different at times in person, but this is his basic look.

Thank you!
Catherine

Looks like he's possibly a Bull Lurcher, very popular hunting dogs here in the United Kingdom, another nick name is a 'Grippet' so called because they're Whippets crossed with Staffies or APBTs which are known to have a good grip
If you want to adopt him then go for it, of course as you know they are working dogs, so will require lots of exercise.. Thanks for joining.

Thank you.
He does have sort of a thin body but is a bit underweight. Exercise is not issue for me as I live in the mountains of Colorado and hike all the time. Was wondering if he was what they called a Border Stack -
1/2 Border Collie, 1/4 Jack and 1/4 Staffie.
He seems very obedient for not having bee formally trained - 2 years old and could tell. But seems intelligent and wants to please.
