Pit mix litter available in Northern Cal

We have a beautiful litter of 3/4 Pit Bull, 1/4 Rottweiler puppies who will be available the week of Jan 5th, 2004. They're all being spayed/neutered on Tues of that week, so should be able to go to homes by the end of the week. There are five females and four males, all reds and brindles. Mom is a Pit/Rott cross, and has a wonderful personality-great with kids, and all people, and even pretty good with other dogs. Don't know much about Dad, as this litter was bred by someone(idiot) who became homeless when they pups were a week old and dumped them. So spread the word to responsible folks looking for puppies!

Hello- thank you for pulling those little beasties and what sounds like a very nice mama dog, too. Maybe you are already connected with these sites: www.petfinder.com
www.pbrc.net and also check out www.furryfriendsrescue.org Furry friends is out of the Bay Area but really generous about posting for other rescue groups. It also opens up the bay area adoption contingent where public shelters can run short on puppies. You could also post on www.craigslist.org accept pre-screening applications then set up somewhere down there if there were a good # of qualified-seeming bay area folks and you wanted to knock out the home check that day, too. I would check to see what groups are hosting adoption sevents and try and tag along with them. I realize you are up in P-ville but your Herculean task of taking on these pit babies may require throwing a wider net than usual.. Hope that helps and give some snuggles to them from me.

Thanks for the suggestions! We have a page on Petfinder and PBRC. Craigslist is a good idea, and we have several people who can do homechecks for us in the Bay Area. It's not that we have a lack on interest in the puppies, it's just scary interest, along the lines of "do they have to be spayed, we want to breed with our dog" and "we have a small shed in the backyard were the puppies can stay"! Or people balk at filling out an application because if they are paying for a puppy, we should mind our own business about what kind of home they will be providing. Ahhhh! When we had a litter of GSD/Golden Ret puppies earlier this year, we had to pick and choose from all the great applications we got. So unfair to these pups-they are great little dogs, and gorgeous, and so deserve homes where they will be cherished. But I find that most nice homes will not consider a pit bull because "they can't be trusted" "They will turn on you" and "they're dangerous around children"-and no, they won't believe anything to the contrary

Hey, we're down to six! The red/rednoses and the big brindle male have been adopted, but there are still six cuties waiting. They're ten weeks old now, and have great little personalities-they love people! And Mama still needs a home, as well, and she is nearly a perfect dog. Beautiful, friendly, tolerant of any and all handling, good with other dogs once she's established her Queen Bee status, GREAT with kids- a really good family dog. Of course, since she's four, she gets passed over a lot.

There are still some of these puppies available! They're about 3 1/2 months and a lot of fun. Interest in them is kind of winding down, seems like people want really young puppies, or dogs old enough to be housetrained and past the chewing thing. The little red male is the spitting image of his mother, and has an awesome personality. Mom's doing great and still waiting, if anyone's looking for a nice family dog.
