I just recently switched from nutro lamb and rice puppy formula to nutro large breed puppy formula. the actual food is larger than the lamb and rice formula, and I think it has more protein. Does this mean that I'm to feed him less at a time?

I would go by the weight chart on the bag and decrease by about 15%.

How old is your pup and why feed large breed?? Those foods were designed for Mastiffs, Danes, Wolf hounds, Pyrenes etc. I have yet to understand the use of these formulas on pits. Actually, I have always wondered about their use at all.

well, the father of my dog was 90lb. and the mother was 85lbs... The breeder i purchased him from had three generations of the bloodline on the property and they were all 80-95lb. I figure my boy will be around there, so Im trying large breed... He's fullblood pit because he's got papers and all kinds of titles, if you will...

And he's 7months old and weighs about 63lb. now

Wow, I have a 1 1/2 yr old and he weighs 49 lbs. But I have to say, I love his size and proportions even with his light bulb head

Right now he is on some crap food called Award(his foster fed it) from Petsmart and starting the switch to Wellness Super5mix Lamb formula gradually. I don't want food switch poops!

Ok........a pup that is expected to hit 90# isn't considered large breed. Large breed are dogs that get tall and heavy. 2 1/2-3 feet at the shoulders and in excess of 120#.

Even with your boy being large for a pit a regular puppy food or a high quality adult food would do fine by him. You don't have the long bone issues that the large breeds do, it's unlikely that you will have to deal with Pano' so I don't know that I would be feeding large breed. He will develop into what he has been genetically gifted with in time.
