First post, go intro! Just wanted to say hey and I'm quite pleased to find such a lively forum devoted to such a great breed. I'm currently located in Syracuse, NY, and while I do not own a Pit myself [ yet! :) ] I am a firm supporter in them.
I've had four years kennel experience, 6 months pet shop kennel experience [ before I couldn't stand seeing pups in cages  ] and now work as a grooming assistant at a local PetCo.
We're one of the only stores in the vicinity that will groom PitBulls, most are banned on sight. Indeed, some of our customers call and try to book appointments as "lab mixes" or "short haired mixes" before showing up with a full blooded pit. I feel for those that feel compelled to hide their dog in such a fashion.
It is, however, a big area for fostering the negative image of pits, the majority of the ones we care for have the fully cropped ears and numerous bite marks denoting their fighting nature. Sadly we can do little but give them love and affection the 3 hours we have them, clean their scrapes and strongly advise vet care.

I'm hoping to garner enough literature and advice here to promote the fight to protect these lovable dogs and their reputation :)

I'm sure I'll wind along on some other long winded post later , but that's an intro for now. :)

Careful, if you hang out here too long, you will find you will not be able to resist on eof the AMAZING dogs in the rescue section. Before you know it, you will have two 50 pound lap dogs. I have two rescues and am occasionally stil tempted!

I've just barely glanced through and already I'm tempted. Rotties will always hold a place in my heart [ I grew up around Rotties ,my mother bred them, we had both a show male, stud male, breeding bitch and male therapy dog] , Pits are fast taking the other side of my heart. :)

Welcome to the forum... Good to see a non-pit owner with the outlook you have. Too bad there are not more people like you...

I've had a number of dogs - but none like a pitty . . . and mine's a mix(you can see his mom at the bottom of his dogster page). We joking call Biscuit the collie 8l ). Yep, I'm betting you'll find a little pittie, or a rottie/pit cross, and be totally sucked in soon . . .
