Hello from Wisconsin

My husband and I are about to get an amstaff (possible mix?). She is such a doll, we are picking her up next Friday. Any words of wisdom? We also have 3 (unbelievably spoiled) French Bulldogs, and we just love bully breeds of all kinds. Here is a picture of her from petfinder:

Welcome! She is beautiful :inlove:

I would pay very special attention to her dog aggressiveness. I realize the shelter feels that it is a result of abuse or neglect, but it is not uncommon in very loved pits.

Pits are naturally dog aggresive and it can be managed, but not erased. Good luck with your new baby and I look forward to your questions and contributions!

Thanks for the tip. I was concerned about that, but I am less so now. I brought my dogs to see her at the shelter and she was totally disinterested in them. But believe me, I will be watching VERY carefully. And I have found a good trainer who will come to my home if needs be.

Normally just a lurker here, but my wife runs Wisconsin Independent pit Bull Rescue, and we work with Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue as well. We've got 5 of our own and 3 fosters in the house at present, it's a zoo!

Welcome to the board!! Maja (until you decide if you are keeping that name or not) is absolutely precious!!! Did you pick her up? If so, how is she fitting in with the family?

My husband and I adopted an 2yr old, Ike, who was going to be put down because he was sick. His ears had been cropped and he was really hand shy. Ike and my female Zsara did fine until he got strong and healthy. He had some serious dog aggression. He was an amazing dog with people but not around other dogs.
