False Pregnancy

Postby HugABull1 » Wed Jan 28, 2004 12:43 pm

Sugar is having a bit of a false pregnancy - I know that's fairly common after a heat, but I can't remember how long it'll last? Anything I can do to speed it up? Her poor little titties are all swollen

And don't worry - it's DEFINITELY false. The entire time she was in heat she was never outside of the yard, and never out alone. For her to have been caught, an intact male would have had to come into our neighbourhood (there aren't any around us), jump the fence to get in, get past the other two dogs (who are aggressive to strange dogs on their turf) without them or our neighbour's barky dogs making noise (which would alert me), get Sugar, then jump back out, all in a maximum 3-5 minute period in which they are all out there to do their business Maybe if the dog was Tom Cruise a la Mission Impossible ;)

Vick's vapor rub will help shrink those mammary glands right up.

Really?! Vicks?! I'm willing to try anything now because after our girl's last heat she had a false pregnancy almost up to the current heat. Her mamary swelling just went down after about 4 months. Anyone with false pregnancy tips just put em up, please!

Vicks? ACK! I think that'd sting a little...i guess I'll just wait it out...Poor girl. At least her big baboon butt has stopped bleeding all over and is starting to shrink. Did I mention I HATE heat? It's soooo gross. Can't wait to get Sugar spayed! :yucky:

Yes, seriously the Vick's works. It doesn't seem to bother the dogs and it's amazing what one or two applications will do. Although I've never had reason to use it on myself, I picked up the tip from someone who used it after her own pregnancy when she didn't want to breast feed.
