So some of you may remeber me saying in some posts that I also have two Belgian Malinois... Anyway one of them, Smee, is 5mo old. I have had her since she was three days old and it has been one helluva roller coaster. I never knew if she would make it to the next day. She had lots of bizzare stuff that I can't even begin to list. But she's pulled through it all and totally captured my heart. So today I woke up for work and she stayed laying on my floor. I called her and she struggled to get up. Finally she got to her feet and was holding her back left leg up and in obvious pain. She walked a couple feet and fell down in the living room where she peed on herself and made no attempt to get up. So I sweeped her up and quickly ran her out to the car. I took the other guys out and headed straigth to work (A.H.). So at first the DVM's thought that perhaps she had a cruciate tear which I really hoped wasn't true cause I really don't know how I would pay for a specialist surgery. Anyway they were having a hard time examining her because she was very painful and very uncooperative. They thought about sedating her and after I expressed some concern we agreed that sedation w/ her could be very dangerous. So the DVM's continued to brain storm and ended up thinking that she most likely has a septic infection in the leg focused at the knee. And to top it off her UTI is back in full force. Her leg is very swollen and she in consideralby painful. I always wonder if my princess will ever be out of the woods. I hope that with antibiotics she starts to feel better soon. She really has the heart of a lion and I hope like every time before she fights her way out of this. I doubt anyone's dog has had any infection like this before but if so I would love to hear about it. I know you guys will show a lot of support for this little girl so I'll say thanks to everyone in advance!
