This is Monte and he is a last chance for life dog at an Eastern Washington shelter. He arrived at the shelter today 9-30-04 with his throat slashed. He will need a foster home and urgent medical care if he is to get another chance at life. He is a young male American Bulldog. He is very friendly and loves everyone he has met at the shelter. He is active and needs training. He was tested on lead in the shelter with other dogs and did fine. Like all dogs of this breed, he is very strong and will need an experienced dog person willing to show him the way to a new life. He was shown cats at the shelter and it appears he would NOT be good with cats. If you interested and qualified to help save this handsome boy, please, respond immediately his time is very short due to the severity of his injury. Please, email support@rescueeverydog.org if you can help Monte.

Another chance at life for these animals could be just one email away!

Please send the above animals stories on to another if they may be able to help, they are posted on http://www.rescueeverydog.org/redalert.html

Oh gosh, please send this to Operation K9 rescue. They are on the West Coast and do lots of AB work. I'm SURE they could help. I would take an AB here in a heartbeat, honestly, but the cost and stress of shipping this dog are not slight. Please contact them. I can't find the email but here is the website:

I have no idea. I contacted the rescue via e-mail and asked several questions and expressed an interest in at least helping save the dog and find placement. I never received an e-mail bakc. Opperation K-9 rescue wrote me back wanting to know what they could do to help, I sent that info to the rescue... and received nothing back. So... I really just don't know...

He's getting out this morning - we NEED foster soon for him. I've called AmBull reps and will call Op K-9, there is $1,000 of vet care donated to his cause already by a wonderful woman who is boarding 3 of her dogs to work him into her home for the short term. He has kennel cough and will need immediate vet work on his slashed throat.

There you have it. Wish is was that easy for EVERY dog in shelter.

I'll update if someone else doesn't.

He is in the vet hospital now. He's a victim of some dumb-ass in Yakima who tied their dog out so that the tie out cable slashed through his neck which is pretty obvious when you see him. He's a tad skinny, mangy, has kennel cough and a good number of scars/wounds on his head, neck, chest and front legs but passed the temperament test the shelter in Yakima gives. I don't know what that is or if I trust it but, apparently, he's o.k. with other dogs when introduced - what that means down the line is anyone's guess. The vet is debriding the wound today and will stitch him up and keep him another night or two. It would be great to come up with a foster by Monday or Tuesday or as soon as we get that kennel cough cleared up.

Good times, huh?

Sadly, if we could have stuck with the throat slashed story and not the tie out slashed story, he'd probably get adopted more quickly if he proves a solid citizen.

It is interesting that they would put a bully with untreated wounds, mange, kennel cough, no vaccinations, and other possible transferables with, near, or around another dog to test his behavior reaction... totally off topic, I know, but it is odd (to me).... It just seems that knowing how he reacts to other dogs was the least of the concerns and that they put him and other dog(s) at risk, possibly (I have not clue how they do those temperment tests there)...

Have you contacted Op K-9 Rescue yet? In their e-mail to me they said that they would like to help... I do not know how they could, but check in with them if you have not already.

See is the news paper will run a small article on him and your rescue efforts, giving a contact number for potential adopters and donations. I have done this before and it helped get homes and a few donations.

BLESS YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE...

It's not me who pulled this one off - I'm just in touch with those who did. Can't take the credit on this one outside of handling the intro's to the reps.

Yakima, incidentally, woudn't have done that kind of intro/test with a pit bull. Whatever... weird. Just contacted the Ca org. last night - thanks, Steph.

I'll keep everyone updated with the info I have~

On with your days!
