Another thread running on the pro's and cons of keeping a collar on your dog all the time prompted me to add this link

http://www.breakawaycollar.com/

I'm on my third set of these. They're well designed and perform as promised. Only problems I've seen is they're made of braided fabric and they start to fray after about a year or so. They also tend to come unsnapped occasionally when the dogs are wrestling. I still think they're great.
Definitely worth checking out.

Omaha Vaccine Company

I am moderately happy with these guys. We got our order quickly, and the prices are very reasonable. However, I ordered a vaccine that was shown as "In Stock" on their website, and when my order arrived it was not in there. The packing sheet said that it would be delivered later because it was back ordered.

I'll give them another week before I start raining down fire and brimstone on their heads.

Throw your rants and raves out there so we all know who deserves our hard earned bucks :). Hope this help some of us. I am an impatient bastard and don't do so well ordering online. Once I order and pay I am counting down the days. So speed and customer support are very important to me.

Blackjacks Leather: http://www.blackjacksleather.com

Products ended up taking about two weeks to get in. Twice as long as promised. Felt a little jerked around but Joe was cool about calling me and explaining that some personal setbacks had tied up the works. Got collar in and it was some of the best leatherwork I had seen. Very impressed with the quality and the fit couldn't have been more perfect if the dog had been there. It will probably outlast my dog. Credit card charge included the overnight shipping that was supposed to be picked up by them for lagging on my order, which drove the price up to unreasonable for a collar. Irritated over some of this but will definately use them again. Pricing was very fair for what I got (shipping issue not included in this statement). Heavy duty stuff.

Acme Kennel: http://www.acmeleather.com

Prices can't be beaten hands down. Quality leather work for less than the price of chain petstore nylon crap. Ordered a harness and a double handled leash. Order showed up very quickly. So quickly, that when combined with the fact that my harness was made a bit too big for my dog, I think that these aren't as made to order as they are made to seem. The quality wasn't as good as Blackjacks IMO but the products have held up very well and I got everything shipped for 10 bucks less than I paid for just a collar though those guys. I feel that I definately got more than I paid for. No gripes at all. Will use them again. Good people, good products.

Sporting Dog Collars: http://www.sportingcollars.com

Ordered a walkout collar and a standard collar. Very nice nylon products and a wide color selection. These guys f***ing suck. They were very hard to get ahold of. Took over two weeks to send me pre-made on the shelf collars. Sent them to the wrong address first despite my confirmation of the shipping address twice. They lied to me three times that the collars had been shipped out when they hadn't been and that there was no tracking number....which there was in the end. Did not return calls or e-mail. I like what I got but after this experience I won't use them again. I prefer double tongue collars anyway and wish I had used Blocky Dogs. For the money and the hassel it wasn't worth it at all. Had some cash in a Pay-Pal account and gave them a whirl since they accept Pay-Pal. Wish I hadn't.

Dogoutfitter.com: http://www.dogsoutfitter.com

Very cheap prices. Great company with good customer support. Ordered a dog bed, kennel bowls and some toys. Everything showed up quickly and has held up well. Will use them in the future. If something is backordered and can't be shipped in the same box, you aren't charged the extra shipping on a later date once it is in stock. Down side being they will hit your checking account or credit card for the product when it comes in stock, not when the intital order is placed. Depending on the price of the backorder it could screw you up if you don't remember to call and cancel it or keep the money available. Will order from them again.

Kong Company:

Doc shredded his Black Kong in no time. I dropped a line and they told me to send it back. They dropped me a check in the mail instead of 2 more Kongs as promised. I called back and said that Doc was very disappointed because he couldn't chew the check. They apologized, told me to cash it and sent me an Extra Large Kong and a Large one to stuff inside it to double layer it. Awesome people and customer support. Definately got me as a customer for life. Within the first 30 seconds of the conversation they were like "pitbull right" and laughed. I figuered that having this as a recurring problem with our block heads I figured they would weasel out of it, willfully letting all of the pitbulls and consequent warrenty claims gladly fall by the wayside. Extra popints for laughing it off and standing by thier product in the face of pitbull toy punishment.
Thanks for the post, it has helped, i was on to minds wether to buy the kong for my staffie, the shop owner said it should be strong enough for her, but she goes through slippers etc no problem, i don't know :dunno: of any other products that would survive those staffie jaws lol how was the kong when you double layered it? I get all of my stuff from http//www.h-townbullies.com

They have awesome 2" & 3" collars. Their harnesses are extremely well made. And they make great leashes. All of their work is hand made. I work strictly with Travis, but James also does great work. I highly recommend their products. Everything ships (and arrives) in less than a week [which is excellent].

got my new 2" collar with double keepers and velcro from stillwater kennels. I love the collar, so does lola. i was worried that it would bother her, being so big and all, and she's a lil girl. but as soon as i put it on, she looked so proud to be wearing it. collar came in two days! i ordered it and had so send a seperate email to choose a color, and i wasn't sure if they got it because i never received a email back. but sure enough it was exactly what i wanted. it was shipped in a lunchables box roflmao . i looked in my mail box and wondered who had shipped me a lunchable. Overall good experience.

I wanted to add a few toy reviews to the list.

Image
The Treatstik

I was looking for a while for a treat-dispensing device for Loki. I actually had a friend give me one of these, and have been pretty happy with it. Pros: It took about 30 seconds to teach Loki how to use the thing, and she's now quite proficient at it. The shape of it makes it easy for her to pick up when she gets it stuck in the corner. Its made of pretty heavy plastic. Cons: Its not available everywhere yet. You can't adjust the rate at which treats come out of it, so a smart dog can get most of the treats out within a few minutes.

Fetch & Flash Ball

Another toy that we lucked out and had given to us. Loki is not ball-crazy like a lot of dogs, but she is nuts for this thing. Pros: Well, my dog digs it! Its also held up well considering how she mashes on it. Its covered in puncture marks, but still works. Cons: Pricey! And a really hard chewer could probably destroy one.

I didn't see these links included here, but I know I've seen them elsewhere in this forum as that's how I knew to try them out.

http://www.leerburg.com/equip.htm#leashes

He's got the wonderful amish-made leashes I've seen anywhere. Very very sturdy and you can feel the difference in the leather compared to pet store variety. My trainer, who also trains K9's and protection dogs, was very impressed with the leash - he got some for his dogs. It has held Daphne securely through many a DA pulling fest. He also sells german made wire muzzles, that altho are terribly hannibal lecter-ish, the pit bull size fits like a dream. Daphne only wears it when training in cloe proximity to dogs or at the vet's, but it's so comfortable for her, she doesn't mind it at all. What I really like about his site, besides the good equipment, is the articles that are all free, especially his anti-dog park article.

Of course, Lisa's collarmania site - Her collars are so well made and strong, I never worry about collar or leash failure.

http://www.collarmania.com

And something that we all face, at some point in time, is pet memorials. This place does really wonderful work, quality work at reasonable prices. Not the most fun subject, but they did the stone for my dog, Madelyn, after 17 years with us. I loved it...

http://www.artisticetching.com/petmemorials.htm

I think that's all I have - except to praise some of the ones already mentioned, Boomerang Tags are great, I order from them all the time. Love the double sided plastic bone tags, I can fit all my info (chip #, phone numbers, city license #). Drs. Foster/Smith, also excellent.

I've ordered from them and the quality of their treats is good and at inexpensive prices. Very responsive and helpful. No automatically generated emails either, you converse with a real person!

Groomax Rubber Curry brush:

http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441777734&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026088&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1182634858589&itemNo=0&Ntt=groomax+rubber+curry+brush&In=All&previousText=groomax+rubber+curry+brush&N=2

Moira *loves* this brush. Any other brush I have used on her she'd spend half her time trying to nip at it. This one? She THROWS herself at my feet to be brushed with it, and is so relaxed by the time I finish she's snoring.

:inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

3 months later and both of these toys are still on my thumbs-up list. The ball has held up amazingly well, and the treatstik is still a favorite.

And I'd like to chip in a kudos to Collarmania. Loki looks really good in her red kanji collar, and it doesn't irritate her neck like regular ol' nylon.
