Pit/Akita mix in NJ needs a home ASAP!!

I'm running out of time - I need a home for this beautiful dog I call Mickey. He was picked up by a really great animal control officer who is temporarily holding him for me until I can find Mickey a nice home, but I'm running out of time. I'm looking for either a foster or a permanent home - preferably where Mickey would be the only dog. I will have him neutered, groomed, and up to date with all his shots when he is ready to go. PLEASE HELP!! Mickey is a great dog who deserves a great home.

Yep - to be more specific - I found Mickey in Orange, NJ - in the parking lot of an office I work out of. He had a heavy chain attached to him and he was really thin - but came to me when I called him, and he ate right out of my hands (this dog absolutely makes my heart melt). The man who has Mickey now allows me to play with him at the park a couple times a week - and will work with me to get him to wherever he can go - as long as it's a good home for him. I live in Wallington (near the Meadowlands), but I can probably drive out to meet up with anyone (as long as it's within reason). Of course we would need to look at where he would be staying - and have to feel comfortable with whoever is willing to take him, and even though he needs a home very soon, we can't give him to just anyone.
Please ask around - I know there is someone out there who deserves this great dog!

why arent you adopting him? do you have dogs of your own? have you considered adopting him yourself?

I would LLLOOOVVEE to adopt Mickey, but I already have 2 pits at home who are 8 and 9 - the main reason though is that we're not allowed to have any pets in our apartment. Anyone up for buying me a house so I can bring Mickey home? :-)
