Fancy The pitbull

Postby fancythepitbull » Wed Aug 20, 2008 4:13 pm

Hi, My name is Samuel, 28 years old from Montreal, Canada.
Ive been refered to this site by people who answered my questions on the yahoo forum.

Current dog is a American Pit Bull Terrier female, named Fancy. We got her 10 days ago, she will turn 2 months on the 23rd of august. This is our first dog ever, had cats for ages.
Any advise is welcome, I will also be uploading pictures of Fancy later on tonight.

Here is a copy of my initial question posted on yahoo:

New BLUE NOSE owner - pitbull?
Hi,
my sister just got a 5 weeks old pitbull, blue nose female. Im looking for any advise you can give us to better educate this puppy to more the most sociable possible, not turn her into an attack type of dog, I understand this is still a pitbull, but we want to make sure how we and people around us can be safe. 1 specific question, what to do when she tried to bite? today, she did so on a couple of occasions, not serious but still we dont want her to get that habit, also make sure not to over punish her.
Your help is much appreciated.

I said 5 weeks, I may be mistaken... but she is defenitly a little puppy and I agree she is too young, unfortuantly its not my decision and I doubt she would accept bringing it back, since she and her friends bought the whole portee of 3-4 puppies.
thx for the person who answered about negative punishment.
also, we're all at home enjoying her around, do you think having one specific person working on being her master or having more than one master around is helpful or confusing to her?

thanks again

I will be readin all the notes you guys are providing me with, I will join the forums and post pics and videos of " fancy ", thats her name.... ( gosh, only a woman would come out with such a name ) ;) . In any case, I agree with you PIT BULLS are not the best breed of dogs for first time owners, sadly enough my sister is over excited, she actually brings the puppy out with her, take the puppy to work. would it be wiser to have the puppy at home for the early weeks of its life?

ps: Fancy is 7 weeks old as of today and I do live in Montreal Canada, we do not have such rules as of at what age you can purchase a puppy, depends on the province.

thx all for your kind words, she is beautiful indeed.

anybody have a picture of a grown up pit bull that have the same atributes as Fancy ( color, nose ). We've been told she will turn much darker within a couple of months.

She will change a lot -- puppies always do -- but nobody can predict exactly how. As for other blue fawn dogs, you could search "blue fawn" in the gallery and probably come up with a thread or 300. lol Lots of blue fawn dogs out there.

She is beautiful...

She looks exactly like another members puppy that she was fostering.

When I first saw the pictures, I thought maybe you were the one who adopted her and had joined the forum.
